Leading motoring magazine Autocar today published a four-page feature providing a detailed insight into the design and engineering skills at SAIC Motor UK Technical Centre and its sister company, MG Motor UK.
The author, Steve Cropley, Autocar's Editor-in-Chief, is one of the most highly respected and influential motoring journalists in the world today. He talked to key SMTC UK staff, including Managing Director David Lindley and Executive Director Paul McNamara about the history of the business and its exciting plans for the future.
The Autocar feature covered many of SMTC UK's acheivements over the past seven years, and highlighted that SAIC's commitment to the UK "is clearly serious and long term".
Cropley recognised that SMTC UK's engineers and designers "have become the steering group for China's - and soon one of the world's - biggest and most ambitious car makers", SAIC Group.
Cropley stated that he'd seen enough at SMTC UK "to know that it will have a powerful role in the nation's motoring future", and admitted that he was "little prepared for the hotbed of British endeavour" he saw during his visit.
