2017 Graduate Recruitment Programme is now OPEN

If you are a recent or forthcoming graduate, SMTC UK would like to hear from you. This page has been created to help you understand SMTC UK’s thinking on graduate recruitment, the opportunities that exist and to guide you through the application process.

Without doubt automotive engineering is one of the fastest moving, exciting and challenging areas in which to work - especially inside a major global player in the industry.  Tomorrow’s vehicles must be lighter, stronger, safer and more fuel efficient as well as offering drivers and passengers increased features, functions and convenience.

To a considerable extent, these requirements are being led by the European market.  Being located in the West Midlands, SMTC UK is almost uniquely placed to help bring the engineering reality behind these requirements into future group products to support China, now the world’s largest car market, the EU market growth strategy and the global market ambitions of the group. To deliver this responsibility, SMTC UK have to maintain an experienced and capable team operating in both the UK and in Shanghai. However we also have to develop this team for the future and this is where graduate recruitment is crucial, as are the parallel links to the UK’s academic institutions.

In addition to projects to deliver next generation products, we are involved in research into new solutions for the future.  In this, we work with leading UK and global suppliers of technology and some of the best known UK universities.  We also work closely with colleagues in our large and growing modern Technical Centre in Shanghai, and travel to and working in China is routine for our team. However in the UK we are large enough to strongly influence and often lead the direction of our future products, but we are small enough that everyone is seen as an individual and a valuable member of the team.

Continuous personal development is an important part of life at SMTC UK and all employees have access to a wide variety of training and career development opportunities.  We can offer you an exciting and challenging role with rewards to match.
